Spherical Plain Bearing - Works Perfect For Your Machines

Have you ever thought how does wind turbine, power plant and the rolling mills works on? To ensure a smooth functioning of a machine where there can be high chances of misalignment in  rods or shafts, a special type of bearing i.e. spherical plain bearing is used. These bearings are designed particularly to ensure balanced performance of machine even under extreme speed. It provides mild lubrication to the machine while it is working.

Types and usage

Spherical plain bearing is used in those applications which requires oscillation and rotation.  In this the rotation take place on sliding type of surface so that the limiting speeding is very slow. In this type, there are types available few of which requires regular lubrication and few are maintenance free.

Spherical plain type bearings have an outer and inner ring along with a locking option which makes the inner ring fit inside the outer ring in an axial direction. The bearings are available in type with single & double rows of rollers. The balls usually metal type and liners used in plain bearings consist of different make like iron, bronze or steel.

Based on the internal design, the angular contact ball bearing is capable to withstand high radial and axial load and is able to reach at high speed. Due to manufacturing reason, they are asymmetrical in shape and that allows it to handle only unidirectional axial load. The angular bearings are typically placed in 2 or more opposed preloaded unit load with elastic or rigid spacer.  Material used in raceways both inner & outer and balls is chrome steel for better performance.

As the load differs in a machine the type of bearing also varies. Another type of bearing pillow block bearing is made up of mounting bracket or a pillow block that stores a bearing. It is used in applications which involves low torque with light load application. The pillow block bearing is made of cast iron and it comes in split and un-split type with different features.

Due to high tolerance capacity for high loads Spherical bearings can generate minimum level of heat, can manage heavy misalignment and on top of it reduces friction.

Spherical Bearings Are Used In Various Applications Like
  • car suspensions,
  • heavy machinery,
  • engines,
  • sewing machines,
  • For robotics
  • Railway Station Construction
  • Building Bridges
  • Construction Equipment’s
  • Hydraulic steel structures
  • Power generation
  • Oil field exploration
  • Wind based turbines

For a best product, please ensure a complete understanding of design engineering and also on application assistance of the Spherical plain bearing. Go through the catalogue and product specification for better clarity. This will make your work easier and hassle-free.
